Golden State Warriors Ticket Information
Founded in 1946, the Philadelphia Warriors became the first champions of the BAA (which would later become the NBA). Then in 1955, after moving to Philadelphia, the Warriors won their second championship against the Fort Wayne Pistons. In 1959, Wilt Chamberlain, one of the greatest scorers to ever play the game, joined the team.

It's plain to see that the Warriors had one of the most successful starts of any of the professional basketball teams. Things would not stay this way, but the Warriors franchise began with a tradition of excellence that set the standard for all other teams.

The team moved to San Francisco in 1962. After winning the Western Division, the Warriors faced the Celtics in the 1964 NBA finals. They lost four games to one. During the 1964-65 season, the Warriors bid farewell to Wilt "The Stilt." Expectedly, they only won 17 games that season. The following season, they drafted Rookie of the Year Rick Barry, who led the Warriors to the finals in his second year. They lost to their former star Wilt Chamberlain, who played for the Philadelphia 76ers.

In 1971, the team changed their name to the Golden State Warriors. The consistently made it to the playoffs until 1977, and in 1975 pulled off what is considered to be the biggest upset in the history of the NBA. The Warriors were such underdogs that even their own coliseum scheduled other events during the playoffs, forcing them to play in a different arena in Daly City. They made it to the finals where they faced the heavily-favored Washington Bullets, and defeated them in a 4 game sweep.
