New York Knicks Ticket Information
Founded in 1946, the New York Knicks (short for "Knickerbockers") are one of two teams from the original NBA that is still playing in their original arena. In this case, that arena is the historic Madison Square Garden. Because of their age and unchanging fan base, the Knicks have become one of the most widely-known teams in sports. No slow start for this team. The Knicks made several consecutive playoff appearances during the '50s, however, they never managed to take home a championship.

In the late '60s though, after acquiring rookies Phil Jackson and Walt Frazier and with all-stars Dick Barnett and Willis Reed, the Knicks played one of the most famous NBA Finals series of all time. Tied 2-2 against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Knicks suffered a crushing blow in game 5 when Willis Reed tore a muscle in his leg. Without their all-star, the Knicks lost game 6. Before game 7, Reed limped onto the floor in a dramatic display of dedication to his team. Statistically, Reed was a non-factor in the game, but his brave display led the Knicks to a 113-99 victory over the Lakers. 3 years later, the Knicks defeated the Lakers again to win their second NBA Title.

The Knicks acquired Patrick Ewing in 1985. Although Ewing was an NBA standout, the Knicks were not. They recorded 23 wins and 59 losses that year. Not until the 1987 season, when the Knicks hired coach Rick Pitino did things start to shape up for the Knicks. In 1993, the Knicks reached the Finals for the first time in 20 years. The Houston Rockets claimed the title though, defeating the Knicks in 7 games. The Knicks made another run in 1998, only to be stopped short by Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs.
